Director general, Libertatem
Garry formed The IFA Association in 1989, which represented over 60% of UK IFA practices. It was instrumental in the reform of the Financial Intermediaries, Managers and Brokers Regulating Association, which was set-up after the passing of the original Financial Services Act in 1988. His campaigning with the IFA Association led to the creation of the Personal Investment Authority.
In 2015, Garry published The Heath Report, which looked at the effects of the Retail Distribution Review and its impact on the consumer and the industry. Following publication, Garry formed Libertatem, which has experienced rapid growth as the adviser community comes under increased scrutiny and financial pressure from the regulators.
Garry has been awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Financial Services Industry’ eight times by Money Marketing. He also formed NFIFAtec, the UK’s first large scale CPD programme.
