Mark Battersby

Head of content, research & development, Last Word

Mark has more than 30 years’ experience in senior editorial roles working for financial titles with London-based publishers. He joined Last Word as editor of International Adviser seven years ago, overseeing its transition from print to digital.

In 2018, Mark took on a newly created position as head of content research and development for all of Last Word’s websites, spearheading such projects as the introduction of continuing professional development articles, bespoke content for non-resident Indian financial advisers and the launch of the Fund Selector Middle East website.

Previously, he was the founding editor of New Model Adviser and the personal finance editor of Interactive Investor International. Mark also spent five years at FT magazines with Money Management and started his financial journalism career at Money Marketing

Entry tip: Take a step back and imagine yourself as one of the judges and what they would be looking for. Crucially, this should include supporting any statements about achievements with relevant evidence such as business figures and qualification levels, the more specific the better while staying very focused on the brief.
